Home stagers will tell you that the Living Room is an area that Buyers expect to be inviting and updated. It is the hub of the home so Seller’s should showcase the living room’s potential.

The last two years have changed our lifestyles. We spend more time in our home than ever before, so the living room needs to serve multi-functions.

What living room fixes can attract Buyers in this housing market?

Let the sunshine in  

Remove old, dark and dated window treatments in the living room. Natural light goes a long way in the eyes of the Buyer. Open blinds and remove any solar screens,

And if you don’t have a lot of natural light consider upgrading the light fixtures. This can be a very economical fix that goes a long way.  If your unable to read while sitting in the living recliner add in a floor lamp or a modern end table for a side lamp. Think bright and simple.

What’s your theme?

Too many colors in one room can throw off the continuity of the space. The room will feel off if the pieces and color tones don’t work together. Be sure to introduce a couple of coordinating hues, everything doesn’t have to be “matchy-matchy”. Try neutrals when decorating and add your pops of color by accessorizing the room.

Too much furniture makes a living room feel small and cluttered. Position your furniture so there is enough clearance for people to walk through and not have to walk around pieces to pass through the room. And remember, it’s ok to have to a sofa float in the room. Furniture does not have to be backed up against a wall.

Think multi-purposed for today’s living room. Some homes don’t have the luxury of having multiple office areas. If that is the case, be sure to create a space in your living room suitable for today’s work from home Buyers. If you need quick access to your computer or need to attend a Zoom meeting, two people working in one room can get loud. Having a workspace in your living room offers
